Today… I’m star struck… I’ve been following Sarah Tripp on Instagram for what seems like FOREVER and she is one of the only bloggers I’ve loyally followed! She is as genuine as they come, and I love the partnership she has with her entrepreneur husband, Robbie. I am honored she took the time to be featured on Livlyhood today.
A few months ago a post of Robbie’s about his love for Sarah went viral and the two of them were everywhere.
It was so neat for me to see how they responded to how much their love story resonated with people across the globe. To me, Sarah is a perfect example of the kind of woman I created Livlyhood to feature… she’s breaking down barriers, creating her dream life and doing it side by side with the love of her life. If Sarah can do it, WHY CAN’T WE????!!!!
Be sure to give Sarah a follow on Instagram and I promise you’ll be as inspired as I am by her every day.

Tell us a little about yourself and your career
My name is Sarah Tripp and I am a body positive fashion and lifestyle blogger over at Sassy Red Lipstick. My husband Robbie and I created Sassy Red Lipstick in 2013 when we were dating in college and have been working the past five years to build it into what it is today! It’s been a wild ride and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We live in San Francisco and have had so many opportunities to work with incredible brands, but most importantly to share my message of body positivity. It is my goal to help women and young girls all over the world feel confident in their own skin and be fashionable no matter their shape or size.
How does your community of women you surround yourself with support you?
Having a supportive circle of boss babes is so important! As I’ve gotten older and my career has progressed, I’ve witnessed firsthand how important it is to weed out the negative people in your life and nurture the positive relationships. It’s true what they say: your vibe attracts your tribe! When you’re surrounded with positive and ambitious people, it helps you grow so much! On the other hand, when you’re surrounded with negative people who would rather gossip than support, it bogs you down. It is so important to me to empower other women!
You are very personal and vulnerable on your blog. How do you open yourself up as you share your message of body positivity?
Thank you! I try to be. Early in my blogging career I figured that there were enough beautiful women posting pretty things on their blogs, I needed to open up and share something that mattered to me. I wanted to help women and share a part of myself with them. Sharing my self-love journey has opened up a whole community of amazing ladies that I’m so glad to be connected with. I know how it feels to be a curvy girl and feel like you don’t have any role models that look like you. So the fact that I can be that person for someone else means the world to me.
I always say that the key to becoming more confident is working on loving yourself a little more every day. Say kind things to yourself when you look in the mirror, think good thoughts, and take care of yourself. Confidence comes from within and then it will shine on the outside!
What do you wish you could go back and tell your younger self re: your career aspirations?
Start your blog sooner! Haha. I started my blog in 2013 and I do feel lucky that I got a bit of a jumpstart on the trend. However, I look at the amazing women I’ve followed for years (Blair Eadie, Julia Engel, Rach Parcell) who started in 2009-2010 and they are absolutely killing it!
I think about my early years in college and how I dreamed about starting a blog but never did it. It wasn’t until I started dating Robbie that he gave me the encouragement (and tech knowledge) to follow my dream. If I had started earlier, I’d be that much further ahead right now. There’s a great quote that says: “The hardest part is getting started.” It’s so true! I would advise anyone reading this to stop waiting on their dreams and start now! You’ll look back in five years and be glad you did.
What is your career-related mantra?
Be confident and help others. At the end of the day, it’s not about the money or the designer bags or the social media status. It’s about inspiring others to chase their dreams and helping them where you can. My favorite comments I receive are women saying “you help me feel more confident in my swimsuit” or “you’re so nice to reply to my DM.” It’s not the superficial things that matter, it’s the connections.
